Aram Khacheh
Biography
“For his exceptional technical control, his ability to make the orchestra sing, and his mastery of phrasing on both the micro and macro scale - from the shaping of a single phrase to the unfolding of an entire musical period.”
These words earned Aram Khacheh the Critics’ Prize at the 2024 Guido Cantelli International Conducting Competition - one of five distinctions he received, alongside the Premio Cantelli (Third Prize), the Friends of Teatro Coccia Prize, the City of Novara Prize, and the Youth Prize.
He is emerging as a conductor whose performances reveal clarity, precision, and a refined sense of musical architecture, combined with artistic depth and a deeply expressive approach - all sustained by innate leadership on the podium, and already recognised by critics and orchestras alike.
Born in Italy in 1997 to a family of Persian artists, Khacheh studied cello and composition at the Florence Conservatory before turning to conducting. He graduated with highest honours from the Brescia Conservatory under Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli and completed postgraduate studies at the Milan Conservatory with Daniele Agiman. He also trained in masterclasses with Gilberto Serembe, Daniele Gatti, Giampaolo Bisanti, and Johannes Schlaefli.
He has conducted ensembles such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, I Pomeriggi Musicali, the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Filarmonica Marchigiana, Orchestra del Friuli-Venezia Giulia, I Musici di Parma, among others.
His artistic collaborations have included a wide range of soloists, notably Francesca Dego, Klaidi Sahatci, Francesco Manara, Danilo Rossi, Giovanni Sollima, Mario Brunello, Luigi Piovano, Andrea Lucchesini, Wayne Marshall, Richard Galliano, Felix Klieser, Giulio Tampalini, and singers such as Annalisa Stroppa, Luciano Ganci, Veronica Simeoni, and Iván Ayón-Rivas.
His recent seasons have seen a number of opera and vocal productions, in both traditional and contemporary settings. These have included Luce di Lammermoor and Don Pasquale: Il Grande Gioco dell’Amore at the Donizetti Opera Festival in Bergamo; Salvatore Passantino’s Il brutto anatroccolo (world premiere) at Teatro Coccia in Novara and Teatro Municipale in Piacenza; Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and Bizet/Constant’s La Tragédie de Carmen at the Fondazione Teatro Grande in Brescia.
Among his engagements in 2025/26 are debuts with the Filarmonica Toscanini, the Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Torino (stage performances of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf), the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Orchestra della Fondazione Arena di Verona and the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, along with his return to the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana.
Aram Khacheh also serves as Music Director of the Bazzini Consort, a Brescia-based ensemble committed to inventive programming, cultural outreach, and collaborative projects.
